Program Description:
Partner Overview

Located in Salem, the capital of the U.S. state Oregon, Willamette is a nationally renowned, highly selective private liberal arts university in Salem, Oregon. Founded in 1842, Willamette is the first university established in the western U.S. and has become a national leader in sustainability and civic engagement. It comprises a residential undergraduate College of Liberal Arts and two professional graduate schools: the College of Law and the Atkinson Graduate School of Management. Through small classes, close student-faculty relationships, a commitment to collaborative research and a variety of programs to meet individual student objectives, Willamette provides an environment where teaching and learning flourish. It has approximately 3000 students. Roehampton has a great relationship with Willamette and staff at the International Education Office look forward to welcoming you.

The beautiful, historic campus - located across the street from the Oregon State Capitol and co-located with Tokyo International University of Americay of America - is next to downtown Salem which has 152,000 inhabitants and offers numerous restaurants, coffeehouses, festivals, concerts, a shopping mall and other activities.

Salem sits in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley — a region known for its organic farms, Christmas trees and wineries — and only 48 miles south of Portland, an urban cultural and economic hub.

Oregon is in the Pacific Northwest and enjoys all the benefits this brings with it: forests, rivers, mountains and coastline nearby; a commitment to the environment; a relaxed, creative and civic-minded culture; and vibrant arts and music scenes.
