University Information

Macquarie University in Sydney has a reputation for being Australia's best modern university. It is renowned for its interdisciplinary research and teaching, highly skilled graduates and first-class facilities. Macquarie was awarded five stars in the international QS Stars rating system for its performance. Recent investments of over $1billion in infrastructure offer students and researchers the best technology and facilities.

Macquarie University is located 30 minutes from the Sydney CBD by direct train line. Sydney offers a great lifestyle and high level of safety, making it the number one choice for many international students. Sydney's climate allows you to enjoy outdoor activities almost all year round.

You do not pay tuition fees at Macquarie University as you are an exchange student, however subscription to the Overseas Student Health Cover is mandatory. Around $300 – 350 for 6 months. Other costs such as accommodation, books, gym membership etc are at your charge.


Macquarie University provides on-campus accommodation, to find out more including the application deadlines, please visit the Accommodation office website. Housing is available on a first-come-first serve basis and it is advised that exchange students apply early.
